Montenegro tops the list of destinations visited by tourists from Great Britain

According to data from the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), in the first half of this year, Montenegro was in first place on the list of destinations visited by tourists from Great Britain, said consultant and expert in the field of tourism, Robert Dee.

He said at the workshop entitled “Trends of travel in English-speaking markets”, organized by the National Tourist Organization (NTO), that he sees potential everywhere in Montenegro.

“It’s one of those fantastic destinations that’s small but big.” You have fantastic beaches, incredible mountain landscapes, your coastline is great, especially the Bay of Kotor. In the north you have national parks, Durmitor and the Tara valley. Truly amazing starters with a great deal. Your culture and history are unique”, Dee said.

He, as reported by the NTO, said that Cetinje and Kotor stand out in all of this, with their UNESCO heritage.

“You really offer a lot for tourists coming from the UK who like to enjoy themselves and explore.” Tourists from Great Britain are happy to visit your coast. They have heard about Herceg Novi, Kotor, Tivat, they are happy to rest there, as well as in Budva, which is well known to local tour operators and which they include in their itineraries,” said Dee.

NTO organized the workshop bearing in mind the importance of the Great Britain market for Montenegrin tourism, as well as the growing trends when it comes to tourist visits from that, but also from the United States of America (USA), all with the aim of educating primarily the tourism industry.

The director of the NTO, Ana Tripković Marković, announced that the Great Britain market represents a traditionally important market with huge potential for Montenegrin tourism, as demonstrated by this summer tourist season, during which, until the end of August, the arrival of around 52 thousand British tourists was recorded. achieved about 270 thousand overnight stays, which is about four times more compared to the same period last year.

She added that excellent results were also recorded in the US market and that Montenegro had twice as many tourists this year compared to the previous one.

“Actually, guided by these results, we at NTO intensified the promotion in these markets and organized a workshop in order to introduce the tourism industry and local tourism organizations to the trends and readily respond to the demands of these markets in the next and the seasons to come,” said Tripković Marković.

Dee has held senior positions in the tourism industry for many years, in renowned companies such as Radisson Hotels, Independent Coach Travel and the European Tourism Association ETOA.

During her stay in the destination, Dee will have the opportunity to enjoy Kotor, Tivat, Herceg Novi, Bar, Kolašin, Žabljak and the Šipčanik wine cellar, where she will taste quality Montenegrin wines.

Also, a tour of the Black Lake and the canyon of the Tara River, as well as well-known tourist sites on the coast, is planned.

The organization of this study visit was also supported by the local tourism organizations of Kotor and Bar, hotels Blue Kotor Bay, Bianca Resort and Spa, One and Only Portonovi, Regent Porto Montenegro and Plantaže.
