Support to automotive engineering through a project of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering

The lack of highly qualified workforce in the field of automotive engineering in Montenegro and Albania is one of the issues that will be addressed through the project of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Montenegro “International centers for engineering competences that facilitate access to new knowledge in the field of mobility”, under the acronym INTEC.

Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, prof. Radoje Vujadinović, PhD, states that the INTEC project, which brings together 12 partners, universities and organizations from Austria, Germany, Croatia, Albania and Montenegro, including the University of Montenegro, will provide a basis for the exchange of the latest content that deals with future challenges that are not concern only these countries.

– Sustainable transport and mobility systems represent an important prerequisite for achieving global goals aimed at reducing the harmful impact of climate change. Special focus will be on the subject of e-mobility, as an alternative solution to conventional mobility, as well as the use of renewable energy sources. New modes of transportation and innovative technologies (eg electric vehicles) provide additional opportunities in terms of reducing the negative impacts of the existing transportation system on the environment and society. In this way, Montenegro would come closer to achieving the goals established by the countries of the European Union, which are green and smart mobility, clean and affordable transport – stated Professor Vujadinović.

The INTEC project is one of 14 projects of the University of Montenegro and four projects of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, which were received as part of the call for the new cycle of Erasmus + capacity building projects in the field of higher education (CBHE) for 2021-2027.

The project will improve cooperation among different interest groups in the field of automotive and mechanical engineering that will deal with the development of training for academic staff and enable further transfer of acquired knowledge. Through the project, experts will consider current topics and discuss current and future challenges in engineering in accordance with local needs.

– The project envisages the establishment of a Center for Engineering Competence at every university outside the European Union that is part of the project. These units represent meeting places for academic staff, students, experts, representatives of companies, automobile associations, etc., where they will exchange ideas, knowledge and skills through workshops, events and projects. Additional attention will be focused on the transfer of soft skills that are in high demand among engineers. Overall, students’ knowledge will more effectively meet market demands and increase their employment rate through cooperation with companies. Moreover, an international network of subjects dealing with automotive engineering will be established in order to improve cooperation with higher education institutions and the economy and lay a solid foundation for future cooperation on projects – pointed out Professor Vujadinović.

In addition to the establishment of the aforementioned Center, the INTEC project envisages the establishment of a training platform and the transfer of knowledge at a distance, the development of manuals and materials for education on sustainable mobility, the organization of workshops with the aim of training academic staff, students and other interested parties, as well as the implementation of the practice of students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at partner institutions in the EU.

– This approach will enable participants from different social and cultural backgrounds to exchange experience, knowledge, good work practices and adopt methodological tools and approaches in the field of sustainable mobility. The application of modern interactive technologies and a distance learning platform will enable all participants to be adequately involved in appropriate project activities and a good implementation of the project – it is stated in the press release of the UCG PR service, eKapija writes.
