Montenegro, Negotiations on the second section of the highway have begun

State Secretary in the Ministry of Capital Investments, Admir Šahmanović, emphasizes that the negotiations on the second section of the highway have begun, and that the state has received a grant of EUR 6 million from the European Commission to update the feasibility study of the entire section and to prepare the project and tender documentation for the next section, Mateševo. – Andrijevica.

Around EUR 500 million will be needed, and they expect help from the European Union with a favorable loan, so it is hoped that the tenders will be announced at the end of 2024.

During his guest appearance on the “Link” program of Radio Montenegro, he pointed out that the project’s value for that section will most likely amount to EUR 500 million for 22 kilometers of road.

– It is a demanding route and we are negotiating with the European Development Bank on a loan arrangement of 300 million at an interest rate of one percent, the rest of 200 million would be provided in the form of a grant from the European investment framework for finance. We hope that the tenders will be announced at the end of 2024, and the section will be completed in the next two to three years – said Šahmanović.

He adds that they have Initiated the Andrijevica-Murino-Čakor-Peć road route to be included in the TNT corridor network, which will give us the opportunity to apply for funds from the European Commission for the improvement of traffic infrastructure. A tender for the selection of a consultant for the development of the geomechanics project for the road Plav – Dečani is also underway.

Šahmanović emphasizes that in many projects they face the problem of bad project documentation, including in this one where they had to supplement through a new tender, which they expect to end soon.
