Montenegro is interested in attracting German capital, intensifying economic cooperation and organizing business forums, as well as strengthening trade exchange, Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović said.
Milatović, as announced by his cabinet, started an official visit to Germany, at the invitation of the president of that country, Frank Walter Steinmeier.
Tomorrow he will be welcomed with the highest state honors in Bellevue Castle, where a meeting with Steinmeier is planned, followed by a bilateral meeting of the delegations of the two countries.
“The topics of the discussion will be the strengthening of bilateral political and economic cooperation between the countries, as well as the support of Germany, as an important partner and ally, in the acceleration of Montenegro’s European path,” the announcement says.
Tonight, on the eve of the meeting with Steinmeier, Milatović spoke with representatives of the Eastern Board of German Economy on the topic of strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.
“We are interested in attracting German capital in so-called greenfield investments, intensifying economic cooperation and organizing business forums, as well as strengthening trade exchanges in the coming period,” said Milatović.
He said that Montenegro is very interested in opening a representative office of the German Chamber of Commerce in Montenegro.
Milatović pointed out that the new Montenegrin Government was recently formed, which will work on removing all obstacles with the aim of attracting new investments.
As announced, the meeting was attended by representatives of Hamburg port consulting, as well as companies from the ICT, pharmaceutical and energy sectors, and the focus of the discussion was on transport infrastructure – Port of Bar, telecommunications and energy.
“Representatives of the German economy, including those companies that already operate in Montenegro such as Telekom and Stada, announced that there is a significant interest of those companies in investing in Montenegro,” the announcement states.
