The new football stadium in Ulcinj is one of the largest projects for the city, with an estimated value of 22 million EUR. A tender for construction is expected to be announced soon, with work set to begin within the next six months. The project is planned to be completed in 18 to 24 months. The modern stadium will be built according to the highest UEFA 2 football standards.
The announcement was made during a project presentation, where the Mayor of Ulcinj highlighted the importance of the project. The mayor emphasized that the stadium, valued at 22 million EUR, would need full support from the Government, the Football Association, and local authorities. Ulcinj, known for its passion for football, has lacked a proper stadium to host top-tier league matches until now.
The stadium will have a seating capacity for 2,743 spectators and will meet international football standards, capable of hosting high-level international matches. Meanwhile, local authorities are also working on reconstructing the current pitch to ensure the Otrant football team can play home games there by spring.
The Mayor of Ulcinj expressed his hope that the project would place the city on the football map of Montenegro and the world, providing great benefits for the local community. The new stadium will have two fields – a main one and a training field – suitable for all age groups, from youth teams to seniors.
The project’s lead designer praised the local government’s initiative, and the Football Association of Montenegro also expressed excitement about the project. They emphasized the stadium’s design, ensuring it would meet all UEFA requirements, including a hybrid grass pitch for the main field and the latest artificial turf for the auxiliary field. Both fields will be equipped with lighting and irrigation systems.
The Municipality of Ulcinj is working towards finalizing the project’s details and expects to announce a tender for the contractor soon. With the backing of the Football Association and the Government, the project has attracted significant attention and support. The Municipality is now looking for the right way to move forward with the realization of this long-awaited development.
