The Government of Montenegro is set to establish a state-owned enterprise that will oversee the management of commodity reserves and facilitate direct delivery of essential goods to citizens. Prime Minister Milojko Spajić announced this initiative, emphasizing its role in countering high prices.
“This approach offers a sustainable way to combat rising costs. While limiting profit margins will certainly ease the financial burden on our citizens, we also need a long-term, sustainable solution to stabilize and control prices in Montenegro,” Spajić explained to the Mina-business agency.
He believes this new enterprise will provide an effective solution to the public’s demand for affordable and stable prices.
Beyond ensuring lower and more stable prices for essential goods, the initiative will also offer significant support to socially vulnerable individuals, people with disabilities, retirees, and others who may struggle to access supermarkets.
“We see home delivery as a way to meet the needs of these groups, while also helping to lower prices,” Spajić concluded.
