The Government of Montenegro has approved the Energy Balance for 2025, a crucial document outlining the country’s energy production and consumption plans for the upcoming year.
The Energy Balance covers key energy sources, including electricity, coal, oil, oil derivatives, and biofuels. It also includes an analysis of the share of renewable energy in the country’s total energy production and outlines the measures needed to achieve these goals. The Ministry of Energy prepared the document.
For 2025, the Energy Balance was developed using data from a variety of sources, including the Montenegrin Electric Power Company (EPCG), the Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System (CEDIS), the Montenegrin Transmission System (CGES) and local electricity producers. It also incorporates coal data from the state-owned Coal Mine, and estimates of oil product consumption based on figures provided by the Ministry of Mining, Oil, and Gas.
The government stressed that ensuring a steady supply of all energy sources is essential for meeting Montenegro’s economic and social development goals for 2025. To this end, all energy sector stakeholders and relevant authorities are urged to prioritize the implementation of the measures outlined in the Energy Balance.
