In April, a section of the road from Tivat to the intersection leading to Bigova, approximately five kilometers long, will be paved, announced Radomir Vuksanović, Director of the Traffic Administration, during the Morning Program on TVCG. He hopes the reconstruction deadline for the Tivat – Jaz road, set for January 2026, will be met.
The reconstruction of the Tivat – Jaz road started in August 2023 but was halted due to unresolved property and legal issues. Construction resumed in January of the following year.
“Unfortunately, numerous challenges awaited us. What I constantly emphasize are the various installations along this stretch, for which we didn’t have a fully completed cadastral map in many cases. This has caused the work on this section, the more urbanized part of the road, to proceed more slowly. We were forced to allow the contractor to continue working towards Budva, so a stretch of about 12-13 kilometers, out of the total 15 kilometers, is now open. We expect that by April, we will have finished and paved the section from Tivat to the Bigova intersection, about five to six kilometers,” said Vuksanović.
The goal, according to him, is to have this section, which is one of the busiest roads with over 30,000 vehicles daily, ready by summer.
Vuksanović also pointed out that the complete reconstruction of the Tivat – Jaz Boulevard, as per the contract, should be finished by January 2026.
“I hope we will manage to meet this deadline, and we also aim to pave another section before the summer tourist season to ensure the smooth flow of traffic,” he added.
Currently, solutions are being sought for managing traffic during the upcoming tourist season.
“We expect that the contractor will soon prepare a work plan, based on which we will give approval. This plan will determine the method and timing of the work during the summer tourist season. I must emphasize that not only on the Tivat – Jaz Boulevard, but throughout Montenegro, the government’s position is that there should be no complete traffic stoppages. Traffic will, of course, be slowed down on this stretch, as well as on other sections where work is being done. Traffic signs have been set up, and there are certain restrictions that must be followed,” concluded Vuksanović.
