Prime Minister Milojko Spajić has emphasized that the Velje Brdo project is just one of many capital investments that will truly transform the capital into a European metropolis. He stated that for all vital projects aimed at improving the quality of life for Podgorica’s residents to be effectively completed, it is crucial to establish a functional and constructive government. This government, he noted, must prioritize the city’s development and citizens’ interests over individual and party agendas.
In his message on the occasion of December 19 – the Liberation Day of Podgorica, Spajić congratulated the citizens and leadership of the capital, marking both the day and the 80th anniversary of Podgorica’s liberation in World War II.
Recalling the city’s cultural and historical heritage, which reflects the deep roots, diversity, and turbulent past of Podgorica, Spajić highlighted the freedom struggle of its people during the war. He stated that this struggle deserves permanent remembrance and obligates everyone to protect the civilization achievements with which Podgorica stands proudly, side by side with the most progressive civic forces in Europe and the world.
Spajić also pointed out that the city has an important role to play in the country’s progress, and he believes that the goal they are working toward will be realized rapidly. He emphasized that the upcoming European path will bring many challenges in the next three years, but these challenges must be addressed successfully in order to make Montenegro a reliable and constructive partner to its international friends who support its progress.
In line with this vision, Spajić noted the special role of the capital in the country’s integration process. He expressed confidence that the current political situation, which he described as a result of the collapse of the previous ruling coalition, is a temporary phase from which Podgorica will emerge stronger, leading the way in infrastructure, economy, and cultural revitalization.
