Porto Montenegro‘s management, in partnership with the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs, has successfully reclassified a section of its marina into a commercial port.
In a statement released by Porto Montenegro, they announced the removal of all legal barriers concerning the admission of various vessel types into their port.
Recent regulatory changes, notably the updated conditions for ports categorized by maritime traffic type and purpose, now allow ports to modify their designation and expand operations within their marina facilities.
“This decision will facilitate the arrival of the largest megayachts in the world, often classified as luxury passenger ships, which were previously unable to dock at Porto Montenegro in Tivat,” the statement highlighted.
The management views this initiative as a testament to the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs’ recognition of maritime significance and their proactive efforts to enhance sectoral conditions.
“In addition, Porto Montenegro will consider hosting smaller passenger ships that have not previously visited Montenegro. This move is anticipated to bolster tourist arrivals in Tivat, fostering positive economic impact and advancing the local tourism sector,” the statement further noted.
Porto Montenegro’s management remains dedicated to continually improving their services, infrastructure, and collaborating with relevant authorities to ensure ongoing development and prosperity for both the marina and Tivat as a premier tourist destination.
