“Recognition of the efforts we have made by our European partners, along with the concrete progress we are seeing, encourages us to continue working with even greater dedication to fulfill all our obligations,” said Gorčević.

Radović outlined the specific steps the CBCG is taking to meet the criteria for joining the European System of Central Banks (ESCB).

In addition to ongoing work to align domestic regulations with the European Union’s legal framework and strengthen institutional capacities, Radović highlighted progress in modernizing payment systems, including Montenegro’s recent accession to the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA).

“In order to enable the soonest possible benefits of SEPA membership for citizens and the economy, it has been agreed to accelerate the adoption of the necessary regulations,” the statement added.

Both Gorčević and Radović praised the ongoing cooperation between the Government and the CBCG, describing it as an example of mutual dedication to the key goal of Montenegro’s EU membership.
