Democratic Party of Socialists representatives in Bar Municipality express reservations regarding Montenegro’s Spatial Plan draft

The Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) caucus in the Bar Municipality Assembly has submitted its comments and suggestions on Montenegro’s Spatial Plan draft to the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism, and State Property.

Andrea Marstjepović, a DPS council member, highlighted two key concerns from the public debate: the construction of an LNG terminal in Bar and the route of the Bar-Boljare highway through Crmnica villages.

Marstjepović strongly opposed the LNG terminal in Bar due to safety risks and potential harm to tourism and the Port of Bar’s development. She cited existing terminals’ negative impacts on residents and the environment and warned against further construction.

Regarding transportation, Marstjepović supported infrastructure improvements but expressed concerns about the proposed highway route through Crmnica villages, fearing damage to homes, religious sites, cemeteries, and agricultural land.

The DPS also emphasized developing rural tourism and improving water supply in specific areas while advocating against new mineral exploitation concessions.

Marstjepović stressed the importance of incorporating public feedback into the Spatial Plan to ensure it supports development without environmental harm or population displacement.
