Montenegro showcases its tourism potential at New York’s ‘Travel & Adventure Show

The National Tourism Organization of Montenegro (NTO CG), in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and the tourism industry, participated for the second time in the “Travel & Adventure Show” in New York.

The fair took place from January 25-26 and provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the beauty and diverse vacation options that Montenegro offers to potential tourists and key partners from the USA and around the world.

As stated in the press release, the Montenegrin delegation at the fair was led by Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordić, State Secretaries Vuk Žižić and Petar Drašković, and the advisor to the Director of NTO CG, Amel Dedeić.

“The tourism fair in New York is extremely important for Montenegro because it offers a unique opportunity to present the tourism potential of our country at one of the largest and most dynamic tourism markets in the world. This year, we are determined to strengthen our presence and increase Montenegro’s recognition among American tourists and partners. Our goal is to position Montenegro as an essential destination for American travelers seeking authentic experiences, high-quality service, and unforgettable memories. The significance of this fair is also reflected in the fact that New York hosts the headquarters of the largest international organizations, whose representatives at our joint meetings expressed their willingness to collaborate and support the development of Montenegrin tourism and the diversification of our economy,” said Kordić.

Amel Dedeić, Advisor to the Director of NTO CG, highlighted the potential of the U.S. market and the growing interest of American tourists in Montenegro as a travel destination.

“According to data from the Montenegrin Statistics Bureau, over 52,000 tourists visited Montenegro in the first 11 months of 2024, which marks a 9% increase compared to the previous year and a 48% increase compared to 2019. American tourists accounted for 226,839 overnight stays, a 12% increase from 2023 and 87% more than in 2019. Recognizing the potential of this market, NTO CG will undertake additional promotional activities aimed at it,” said Dedeić.

Eartha Franklin, a blogger and owner of the travel agency WOWCATIONS, visited the Montenegrin booth and stated that she plans to visit Montenegro next summer.

“I’m truly impressed to see Montenegro at the fair. I think this country has so much to offer and is very attractive to American tourists. I’ve heard so many wonderful things about Montenegro that I can’t wait to visit this beautiful country. One of the video creators I follow frequently posts stunning places from Montenegro. Next summer, Montenegro will be my choice,” said Eartha Franklin.

Dina Amin, a representative of the travel agency Envoy Adventure, also expressed her enthusiasm for Montenegro.

“I had the opportunity to visit Montenegro, but I only stayed for one day. Even so, this country surprised me in such a short time. We visited Our Lady of the Rocks, and I was enchanted by that place. However, the biggest impression on me was made by the people – their warmth and sincerity,” Amin shared.

The “Travel & Adventure Show” is one of the most important events in the world of tourism, known for connecting over 2.1 million travel enthusiasts with more than 4,500 unique travel brands. This year, visitors to the fair had the opportunity to discover over 250 top destinations and tours from around the world, supported by experts in travel planning and booking.

The organizers report that this year the fair attracted over 27,000 visitors, who enjoyed presentations on the latest trends in tourism, as well as meetings with notable personalities such as Phil Keoghan, host of “The Amazing Race,” author Pauline Fromer, and CBS Travel News editor Peter Greenberg.

At the NTO CG booth, strategic partner NTO CG, HG Budvanska Riviera, local tourist organizations from Budva, Kotor, Tivat, Herceg Novi, Gusinje, Rožaje, Montenegro Stars, and travel agencies Gold Travel, Montenegro Adventure, and Monte Vista DMC also presented their offerings, as stated in the press release.
