Montenegro’s concession revenue for mineral resources rises by 19.7% in 2023

Montenegro earned approximately EUR 5.4 million in concession fees for detailed geological research and exploitation of solid mineral resources last year, marking a 19.7% increase, according to a government statement. The government has signed 51 concession agreements.

The subject of these contracts includes the following mineral resources: coal, red bauxite, lead-zinc ore, technical construction stone, architectural construction stone, white bauxite, and bentonite (clay).

The fixed part of the concession fee for 2024 is EUR 3,431,193, while the variable part for 2023 is EUR 2,036,196. The total concession fee (SDN + PDN) for the last three years is as follows: EUR 3,951,326 for 2021, EUR 4,519,137 for 2022, and EUR 5,408,647 for 2023.

Based on this data, it can be concluded that the total concession fee has increased year by year, with a 19.7% rise in 2023 compared to the previous year, 2022, according to the information approved by the government at its latest session.
