Montenegro records €245.39 million net FDI inflow through June

By the end of June, Montenegro recorded a total of €422.13 million in foreign direct investments (FDI), while €176.74 million exited the country, according to preliminary data from the Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG).

The net inflow of FDI, which is the difference between the incoming and outgoing investments, stood at €245.39 million, reflecting a 4.69% decrease compared to the same period last year.

The CBCG Bulletin notes that the total inflow of FDI is 6.71% lower than in the comparable period of the previous year.

Investments by Montenegrin residents abroad accounted for €42.26 million of the outflows, while withdrawals by non-residents from their investments in Montenegro totaled €134.48 million.

Equity investments, which constitute 61.55% of the total FDI inflow, amounted to €259.83 million. Of this, €199.94 million was invested in real estate, and €59.89 million in businesses and banks.

FDI in the form of intercompany loans reached €156.27 million, representing a 4.9% increase from the same period last year.
