Montenegro to introduce temporary payment measures ahead of 2025 budget

The Ministry of Finance is preparing special solutions for payments to households until the adoption of the 2025 Budget Law, announced the Minister of Finance, Novica Vuković.

Vuković explained that these measures were taken due to the new circumstances and “to prevent the timely adoption of our most important document” – the budget for the upcoming year.

This approach, he stated, will ensure the regular servicing of all payments important for citizens and business entities.

He added that he hopes no citizen, particularly those in responsible public positions, has the intention of undermining “the international reputation of the country in which they live and slowing down its European path, on which we have achieved significant results in a short period.”

Adopting the 2025 budget is in the best interest of all citizens, Vuković emphasized, as it is necessary for the realization of capital projects, implementing reforms, improving living standards, and ensuring the smooth development of the country.

“Our institutional duty is to pursue responsible and rational financial policies. Therefore, I call on other public officials involved in completing this important process not to ignore their responsibilities and duties, and instead of engaging in obstructions that harm the functioning of the system and society as a whole, to allow work to continue without temporary financing,” concluded Vuković.
