“The government will submit a request to parliament for an extraordinary session to be held on January 21,” announced Milutin Butorović, the Minister without Portfolio responsible for parliamentary relations.
Butorović expressed regret that the budget had not been adopted on time due to opposition obstruction. “Tomorrow, we will submit a request to the Assembly in order to secure the budget’s approval during January, as this is the only way to guarantee the payment of increased pensions and proportional pensions,” said the minister.
He added that, in addition to the Budget Law, the government will propose that parliament include in the agenda of the extraordinary session the accompanying laws related to proportional pensions and Montenegro’s continued European path.
“Our proposal will be to hold the session on January 21, and we believe in a constructive approach from the opposition so that this most important law for our country can be adopted for the benefit of all our citizens, especially pensioners,” he concluded.
