Montenegro shines as a premier travel destination in major German publications

Montenegro is increasingly featured in prominent German media outlets as a compelling travel destination, thanks to the intense promotional efforts of the National Tourism Organization (NTO).

According to the NTO, numerous articles in esteemed publications have highlighted the country’s natural beauty, cultural heritage, and expanding tourism offerings, capturing the interest of German readers and potential visitors.

The magazine Die Welt recently published an article titled “Montenegro – One of the Most Popular Destinations This Summer.” This prestigious publication, with a circulation of 87,840 copies, presents Montenegro as a destination that offers a lot in a small space—ranging from fjords, mountains, and pristine towns to ancient monasteries, long beaches, and primeval forests.

“Balkan state on the Adriatic not only impresses individual travelers but also luxury tourists due to its increasing number of exclusive accommodations. Montenegro surprises with many superlatives,” the article notes.

Montenegro has also been featured in the renowned magazine Spiegel, under the title “The Perfect Travel Country.” With a weekly circulation of 695,000 copies, Spiegel particularly emphasizes the country’s natural beauty and unique combination of cultural and historical landmarks.

Additionally, Esquire, with an average circulation of 620,000 copies and 15 million online visitors, ranks Montenegro among the most desirable travel destinations for this year.

Moreover, the most sought-after travel magazine in Germany, REISE&PREISE, recommends Montenegro as a destination offering everything for a successful vacation: charming small towns, long sandy beaches, rocky bathing coves, rich history, and authentic gastronomy.

Special attention has been given to Montenegro’s active tourism offerings in Outdoor magazine, which features a story about an adventurous bike and raft journey through the Tara Canyon.

“Described as the tear of Europe due to its crystal-clear waters, the Tara Canyon offers an unparalleled experience for nature and adventure lovers. We were particularly drawn to activities like ‘bikerafting’—a combination of biking and packrafting,” the article states.

In the coming period, the NTO will continue promoting the destination in the German market. In collaboration with the tour operator DERTOUR, a campaign is underway to promote the destination through their channels with the aim of increasing bookings. Additionally, in September, media and influencer study visits from Germany will be organized.
