Ministry of Tourism plans artificial snowmaking to ensure a successful winter season

The Ministry of Tourism of Montenegro is considering various options for artificial snowmaking to ensure the success of the winter tourist season, which must not depend solely on snow. Analyses have shown that artificial snowmaking could be implemented at the Durmitor Ski Center this year, while additional options will need to be considered for KolaĊĦin.

The Ministry also announced that the state ski resort in KolaĊĦin will once again have regular electricity supply after the Ministry of Energy resolved the issue of cable damage on a private property, which had affected the electricity supply to several facilities.

Tourism Minister Simonida Kordić stated that her department had taken measures over the past ten days to address the issues in KolaĊĦin caused by the disruption of the electrical cables, which had threatened the operation of the ski resort. Kordić emphasized that the problem must be addressed through the competent institutions, and not in a manner that jeopardizes the tourism industry.

Kordić also requested that Ski Resorts of Montenegro provide daily reports on the repair of the retaining wall of the K7 cable car in KolaĊĦin, as tourist safety is a priority.

Although snowfalls have been forecasted, the Ministry of Tourism emphasized that the winter season must not rely solely on snow.
