The Ministry of Energy in Montenegro has been operating without a minister for a month, reflecting the attitude of Prime Minister Milojko Spajić towards the sector, which is crucial to the country’s economy, according to the Civil Movement URA.
“We are waiting for the new minister to announce the final results for last year and confirm the achievements of the former minister, Saša Mujović,” said representatives from URA.
They claim that Spajić and his officials, over the course of a year and a half of management, have shown through their irresponsible and harmful approach to the state and institutions that they are unfit for the most important government positions.
The Civil Movement URA also reminded that since December 28, when Mujović assumed his new role as mayor of the capital, this vital sector for Montenegro’s economy has been left “headless.”
They added that Mujović left behind very poor results in the ministry.
“For example, Elektroprivreda (EPCG) was in the red by 3 million EUR in the first six months of last year, while under the government of Dritan Abazović in 2023, the company had a profit of 101 million EUR. For the first nine months of 2023, EPCG had a deficit of 21.8 million EUR, while in the same period in 2022, it had a surplus of 61.5 million EUR,” URA representatives said.
