Interest from Slovak companies in investing in Montenegro is growing, especially in the area of renewable energy, according to the ambassador of Slovakia, Boris Gandel.
The Ministry of Finance stated that foreign direct investments from Slovakia have been at a very low level in the previous period.
During the first official meeting with the Minister of Finance, Novica Vuković, Gandel discussed the possibilities of strengthening economic and trade cooperation between the friendly countries.
Gandel, as reported by the Ministry, emphasized the importance of a stable government on the path to the European Union (EU) and praised the steps taken by the government so far towards reforms that will enable a faster integration process. He confirmed that Montenegro has full support from Slovakia in this process.
Presenting the characteristics of the business environment in Montenegro, Vuković highlighted that the goal of the Ministry in the coming period will be to create the foundation for attracting foreign investors and ensuring a secure environment as a precondition for initiating economic development at the state level.
The Ministry of Finance also mentioned a successful project supported by the Slovak Ministry of Finance through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), focusing on strengthening public finances in Montenegro. The first cycle of the project has been successfully implemented, and its continuation is expected soon, along with the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries in various mutually recognized areas of interest.
