In Montenegro, less than 20% of the available hydro potential is used – Energy does not allow recklessness, turn to energy efficient resources

Energy does not allow recklessness and wandering, which is why it is important to turn to energy-efficient resources, identify weak points and solve existing problems in that area, it was said at the opening of the 8th Consultation of the Montenegrin Committee of the International Council for Large Electricity Networks (CG KO CIGRE) .

More than 200 scientific and professional workers and business people from Montenegro and the countries of the region are participating in the Consultation, which will last until May 12 in Budva.

President of CG KO CIGRE, Predrag Mijajlović, said that at the 8th Consultation, within the work sessions of 15 study committees, more than 70 scientific works from Montenegro and the region will be presented, and that the focus of the panel will be the energy crisis, renewable sources energy and solar energy.

I hope that all these days the focus will be on answering how to proceed. I think that energy does not allow recklessness and wandering. This energy transition in the last few years has shown us that small countries, such as ours, do not suffer from this – Mijajlović pointed out.

He said that he expected the consultation to provide answers to all current questions. Currently, we do not have an energy strategy, energy is politicized to the point of daily use for daily political purposes, which we engineers should not allow – Mijajlović believes.

The representative of the CIGRE regional conference for Southeast Europe – SEERC and the president of CIGRE Serbia, Nebojša Petrović, said that, for many years, caused by events in Europe and the world, the energy crisis opened up many questions from market, regulatory and technical aspects.

He indicated that models are currently being sought to make electricity available and acceptable for the economy and households. Last year, the Ministerial Council of the Energy Community gave the task to all members of the Community to adopt the basic provisions in the basic energy requirements of the member states of the Energy Community by the end of this year – stated Petrović.

The President of the Board of Directors of Elektroprivreda Montenegro, Milutin Đukanović, said that the energy transition coincided with the energy crisis.

It is not good that we make strategies and forget the goals. Strategies are made to achieve certain goals, which are very simple. The first goal is to produce more electricity than we consume, that is, to achieve energy stability and independence. Another goal is to produce clean electricity, not to pollute nature – stated Đukanović.

He considers it important that there is a strong parliament, a government with vision, and local governments with commitment, so that energy companies can realize their strategies and policies.
The President of the Board of Directors of the Montenegrin Electric Transmission System, Aleksandar Mijušković, said that the company’s significant investments have changed the energy picture of this part of Europe.

The maritime cable project not only made Montenegro an energy hub, but also a bridge between the European Union and the Balkans. Our priority is to help the region to which we belong and to turn to energy-efficient resources, identify weak points and solve existing problems – emphasized Mijušković.
He pointed out that Montenegro has an opportunity to make good use of the finances at its disposal, stating that CGES is an example of how opportunities can be used.

The Board of Directors of the Montenegrin Committee of CIGRE unanimously decided to award the Lifetime Achievement Award to two prominent experts in their fields – Momir Grbović and Miodrag Stanišić.

Grbović said that the recognition means a lot to him because it comes from his colleagues.
He said that his involvement in energy companies mostly related to cooperation with young people.
It seems to me that in my engagement I managed to lead a young team that is now making a significant contribution to EPCG – stated Grbović.

Professor Milutin Ostojić, who is the honorary president of CG KO CIGRE, said that the program of each consultation, including this one, is dedicated to current issues and problems of functioning and maintenance of all parts of the system.

Exceptional attention was paid to new sources of electricity, but always strictly taking into account the protection of nature and the environment. From the very beginning of the establishment of CIGRE, the need to use solar and wind energy was pointed out, and we even initiated research into geothermal energy – Ostojić recalled.

He indicated that less than 20% of the available hydro potential was used in Montenegro, and 76% in Europe. I believe that it is necessary to take a very serious, responsible and systematic approach to the issue of using our resources, especially the potential of Piva. I think that issue should be in the competence of proven experts and scientists – said Ostojić.

A plaque as a sign of gratitude for many years of constant and exceptionally high-quality professional work at the CG KO CIGRE was awarded to Professor Vladan Radulović, Snežana Đurović and Rado Dašić.

Major sponsors of the 8th Consultation are the Montenegrin Elektroprenosni System, Eletroprivreda Crne Gore, Montenegrin Elektrodistributivni System and EFT group.
