EBRD commits to supporting tourism development initiatives in Montenegro

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has pledged to continue its support for Montenegro’s tourism sector by partnering in key projects and assisting with important initiatives. Remon Zakaria, the head of the EBRD Office, made this announcement during a meeting with Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordić.

Zakaria highlighted Montenegro’s stunning natural beauty, which captivates visitors, and expressed a commitment to preserving it for future generations.

Minister Kordić emphasized the need to balance the protection of national interests with the enhancement of support for the private sector in terms of investments.

Both Zakaria and Kordić agreed on the critical importance of improving air accessibility and airport infrastructure to facilitate tourism growth.

“We aspire to develop high-quality sustainable tourism. While our coastal areas are well-developed, it is essential to invest in the northern regions as well. Health tourism, in particular, holds significant potential for growth and investment attraction,” Kordić stated.

The meeting also included State Secretary Petar Drašković and Vasilije Jauković, the EBRD’s lead banker for the tourism and real estate sector in Podgorica.
