The diaspora represents an invaluable asset and a significant potential for enhancing Montenegro’s economic opportunities, stated Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ervin Ibrahimović.
Participating in a panel discussion titled “The Impact of the Diaspora on Montenegro’s Economic Development” during the Diaspora and Emigrants Days of Montenegro 2024 event, Ibrahimović highlighted the critical role of the diaspora in the country’s economic growth.
Reflecting on diplomatic efforts to strengthen the diaspora’s role in Montenegro’s economic development, Ibrahimović expressed his honor in fostering closer cooperation with countries where the Montenegrin diaspora resides and excels in various social and political spheres.
“I believe there is a growing awareness in Montenegro that comprehensive economic growth is not possible without leveraging all the potential our country possesses. The diaspora, with its resources, knowledge, skills, and established business networks, represents an invaluable asset and major potential for enhancing economic opportunities in our country,” Ibrahimović stated.
He emphasized that the diaspora is Montenegro’s strongest economic sector and underscored the necessity of facilitating easier and faster investments by removing administrative barriers.
Ibrahimović also noted that a priority of his future work will be to establish even better and stronger cooperation with the diaspora through the diplomatic-consular network.
“Montenegro, by committing to fulfilling its European obligations and implementing key reforms, will ensure stability and security for all investors, including those from the diaspora, contributing to overall economic progress,” Ibrahimović concluded.
