Customs Administration achieves significant revenue growth for January-August 2024

The Customs Administration has reported substantial growth in revenue collection for the period from January 1 to August 31, 2024, contributing to an increase in overall budget revenues, according to a recent announcement from the institution.

Gross revenue collections reached 853 million euros, representing a 72 million euro increase, or 9%, compared to the same period last year. This surpasses the revenue target for January-August 2024 by 21 million euros, or 3%.

The increase in revenue spans all types of duties. The most significant rise was seen in excise duties, which amounted to 246.8 million euros—up by 34.4 million euros, or 16%, from the previous year. VAT collected from imports totaled 564.5 million euros, while customs duties generated 39.5 million euros. Coffee tax revenue stood at 1.8 million euros, with other revenues totaling 102,000 euros.

For August 2024, the total revenue collected was 129,576,417.76 euros, meeting the month’s revenue target. This represents an increase of 13,913,855.97 euros, or 12.03%, compared to the same month in the previous year.
