NewsCompletion of A6 turbine overhaul at HPP Perućica enhances efficiency and sustainability

Completion of A6 turbine overhaul at HPP Perućica enhances efficiency and sustainability

Work on the A6 turbine at the Perućica Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) has been completed, announced the Electric Power Company (EPCG), adding that this overhaul significantly contributes to the efficiency and long-term sustainability of the plant.

EPCG stated that it has continued its practice of field meetings, and this time, the meeting was held by Executive Director Ivan Bulatović at the Perućica Hydroelectric Power Plant.

According to EPCG, the visit provided an opportunity to confirm the high operational readiness of the facility and evaluate plans for further modernization.

“During this visit, EPCG management and technical teams inspected the plant and confirmed that the work on the A6 turbine has been fully completed and the unit is now operational,” the statement reads.

EPCG further emphasized that the overhaul significantly improves the efficiency and long-term sustainability of the hydroelectric plant.

“In line with the ongoing development plan, EPCG continues with the modernization of the facility – similar work is planned for the A7 turbine, while the tender process is underway to select a contractor for the installation of a completely new A8 turbine, which will increase the total power capacity of the Perućica Hydroelectric Power Plant and further strengthen Montenegro’s energy capacity,” the statement added.

Bulatović highlighted the importance of the activities carried out at the oldest large power plant.

“HE Perućica is a key pillar of our hydroelectric system, and the successful completion of work on the A6 turbine is proof of the dedication and expertise of our team,” said Bulatović.

He further stated that the modernization efforts will continue, with work on the A7 turbine beginning soon.

“The installation of a completely new A8 turbine is in preparation, which, along with the Zeta water diversion project and the construction of the Krupac-Slano tunnel, will significantly increase the plant’s production capacity,” Bulatović noted.

According to him, these strategic investments strengthen Montenegro’s energy stability and ensure the sustainable development of EPCG.

“EPCG remains dedicated to enhancing its capacities, with a strong focus on modernization and the reliability of production facilities. HE Perućica continues to be one of the key pillars of Montenegro’s power system,” the statement concluded.
