Central Bank of Montenegro releases new list of companies with blocked accounts

The Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG) has published a new list of companies with blocked accounts, showing six more blocked companies compared to the previous list.

The new list, which the CBCG publishes monthly in accordance with the Payment Transactions Law, includes 20,910 companies from the Central Registry of Business Entities (CRPS) and the CBCG’s registry. Of the total number of blocked companies, 3,460 are listed in the CBCG registry but are not included in the CRPS. According to the Payment Transactions Law, the CBCG is required to publish data related to enforcement procedures, including the names of companies or entrepreneurs, their registration numbers, the amounts of account blocks, and the number of consecutive days of account blockage.

The CBCG clarified that the registration numbers for entrepreneurs are not published because they are recorded in the Central Registry of Transaction Accounts under the unique personal identification number (JMB) of citizens, which cannot be disclosed in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Law.

The CBCG publishes these data once a month on its website, on the first business day following the end of the month, with a snapshot of the situation as of the last day of the month, listed alphabetically by company and entrepreneur names.

Since July 2012, when the CBCG began publishing this data, until January 9, 2014, the information was published based on the then-current Payment Transactions Law, for companies or entrepreneurs with accounts blocked for over ten thousand EUR for more than 30 consecutive days.

The names of the companies are published on the CBCG website, www.cbcg.me, and to ensure full impartiality, they are listed alphabetically.
