Significant increase in tourist visits to Budva in the period from January to May

The tourist season in Budva brings great results and promises many reasons for satisfaction, the Ministry of Economic Development and Tourism announced.

“Revenues from various taxes have grown to EUR 1.98 million, which represents a significant increase of 43 percent compared to the previous year,” the announcement states.

MERT said that Budva’s largest hotel group, Hotelska grupa (HG) Budvanska Riviera, stands out as particularly successful.

“In the first six months, they recorded an incredible growth of 100 percent compared to the same period last year, and 12 percent better results than in the same period of 2019. The occupancy of all their capacities reached a maximum of 100 percent, and hoteliers optimistically expect the final results that will confirm the excellence of the season,” said MERT.

There is also interest in extending the season, with promising bookings for the period from September to October.

“Statistical data from the Administration of Statistics show a significant increase in tourist visits to Budva in the period from January to May. Arrivals increased by 62 percent, and overnight stays by 50 percent compared to the same period last year,” the announcement states.

The Ministry said that guests from different countries contribute to this surprising growth.

“The largest share in the total number of arrivals was achieved by visitors from Serbia, Germany, France, Albania, Turkey, Great Britain, Croatia, Russia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland and the Netherlands. “Also, significant interest comes from non-European countries such as Israel, China and the United States of America,” the announcement states.

The Ministry stated that this season promises to continue the successful trend, making Budva one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region.
