Leaders Summit of the Western Balkans and the European Union will take place on Thursday, May 16th, in Kotor, at the Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay hotel, during which leaders of the region, representatives of the European Union, and the United States will discuss the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans.
The summit will be hosted by the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milojko Spajic.
The summit is organized under the slogan “One region, common vision.”
In addition to leaders and ministers from the region, partner organizations such as the Regional Cooperation Council, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, European Investment Bank, World Bank, Transport Community, Atlantic Alliance, Energy Community, Open Society Foundation, ReSPA, GIZ, high representatives of the European Commission, and others have been invited to the event.
The day before the Summit, on May 15th, a meeting of ministers of European affairs and finance from the Western Balkans countries, representatives of the European Commission, and partner organizations will be held.
Recall that in recent months, ministerial meetings and regional summits of Western Balkan leaders have been held in Skopje and Tirana. During these meetings, leaders and ministers from the region, as well as representatives of the European Union and the United States, discussed the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, which includes 6 billion EUR in grants and loans to accelerate socio-economic convergence with the European Union, namely two billion in grants and four billion in favorable loans guaranteed by the EU.
The information about the Summit was adopted at a Government session, stating that the new Growth Plan for the Western Balkans will strengthen economic cooperation in the region and provide tangible benefits for the countries of the region through access to the EU single market. It also emphasized that successful implementation of the plan requires joint efforts and synergy from all countries in the region.
