The Municipality of Bar plans to build a panoramic cable car connecting Bar-Rumija-Lake Skadar and has issued a tender for the feasibility study.
A budget of €82,644.63 excluding VAT, or €100,000 including VAT, has been allocated for this project.
According to the project description, the feasibility study is intended to evaluate the installation of a cable car/gondola for passenger transport from the suburban area of Bar (MZ Šušanj, Bar IV, or MZ Bar V, though other local communities may be considered) to the area near Rumija. The route would cover parts of MZ Bar V and Stari Bar, including areas like Zubac, Velembus, Mikulić, Stari Bar, and extend to the shores of Lake Skadar, encompassing MZ Crmnica, Šestane, and Ostros. The study will also aim to identify optimal connections with existing local infrastructure, such as road networks, cycling, hiking, and walking paths.
The total length of the planned gondola route from Bar, over the mountain massif near Rumija, to Lake Skadar is approximately 6.5 km.
The length may vary depending on terrain characteristics, legal property issues, and planning documentation. The gondola’s route should align with existing planning and project documentation and, if possible, be routed primarily through state-owned land to minimize potential expropriation costs.
The study will assess the spatial, ecological, social, financial, market, and economic feasibility of the investment, considering different solution options. These options will form the basis for creating a planning document and deciding on the viability of the investment.
The deadline for the completion of the study is 90 calendar days from the date of project commencement and the delivery of all necessary information.
Proposals must be submitted by January 16 at 11 AM.
Last year, Danilo Orlandić, the director of the Bar Tourism Organization, announced the construction of the Bar-Rumija-Lake Skadar cable car. He also mentioned plans for the construction of a water park.
Dušan Raičević, the president of the Municipality of Bar, also discussed the project, explaining that the planned cable car would connect the shores of the Adriatic Sea with Lake Skadar.
“I hope that we will soon move forward with this idea,” said Raičević in June this year.
