Montenegro has officially joined the Blue Dot Network (BDN) during the visit of Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy, Nik Gjelloshaj, to Washington, D.C.
Gjelloshaj and Acting Assistant Secretary of the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs, Amy Holman, exchanged letters confirming Montenegro’s membership in the BDN network.
The Ministry of Economic Development stated that Montenegro’s participation in the BDN network underscores its commitment to attracting investments that adhere to international standards for quality and sustainable infrastructure.
“Membership demonstrates Montenegro’s dedication to building infrastructure that benefits local communities while upholding sustainability principles and implementing strong anti-corruption measures alongside transparent and inclusive business practices,” the statement read.
The BDN is a multilateral partnership involving several countries, including Australia, the Czech Republic, Japan, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States, developed by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
“Its primary goal is to support private sector investments in infrastructure projects by providing assurances that certified projects are of high quality and comply with global standards for environmental and social responsibility,” the statement concluded.
