Payment transactions in August total 2.13 billion EUR, decreasing by 7.4% from July

The total value of completed payment transactions for 22 working days in August amounted to 2.13 billion EUR, marking a 7.4% decrease compared to July, according to data from the Central Bank (CBCG).

Of this total, 93.4% was processed through the Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) system, while the remaining portion was handled through the Deferred Net Settlement (DNS) system.

The RTGS system processes individual payment transactions between participants on a gross basis in real time, whereas the DNS system handles interbank payment transactions on a net basis with a delay.

“In August, a total of 1.28 million orders were processed over 22 working days, with 39.03% executed in the RTGS system and the remainder in the DNS system,” the CBCG report states.

The average daily volume of payment transactions in both the RTGS and DNS systems, measured by the number of orders, was 58,160 orders. The average daily value of payment transactions was 96.74 million EUR.

Throughout August, the system experienced no downtime, with a total of 11,990 minutes of production time, achieving 100% system availability.
