July payment transactions reach €2.3 billion, up 18% from previous month

In July, payment transactions for 22 working days reached €2.3 billion, representing an 18% increase compared to June, according to data from the Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG).

Out of this total, 93.82% was processed through the Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) system, while the remaining portion was handled via the Deferred Net Settlement (DNS) system.

The RTGS system processes individual payment transactions between participants on a gross basis in real time, whereas the DNS system handles interbank transactions on a net basis with deferred settlement.

The CBCG report reveals that in July, a total of 1.37 million payment orders were processed. Of these, 40.34% were executed through the RTGS system, and the rest through the DNS system.

On average, there were 62,190 payment orders processed daily, with an average daily transaction value of €104.5 million.

The system maintained 100% availability throughout July, with no downtime recorded for 11,990 minutes of production.
